We ran a small midnight Tourney on Friday, September 22nd to see how well it would go, and the attendees had a blast. Videos are over on our youtube channel, thanks to Jess for recording them! May have to put up a poll to see if we have enough interest to make another (post-covid) run at this.

Well, when we came into Eagles, they had a scheduling issue with the room,  but they set us up in the old Siegle Sports, so come on down! We are still doing the drink tickets, they will just be in plastic cups,  it sounds like.

It's been a fun year for us, and I'm proud of the difference we've made to our community.
We still have 2 games left in our first season, and we have already raised over $2,000 for local charities!
Our donations have gone to Food shelves to feed those in need, to humane societies to improve animal's lives, to a Transgender support group to help people shunned by the dregs of society, to youth centers to help our children stay occupied and to learn, to a reward program for 5th graders to encourage…

Well, I put it off but it looks like Fortnite has custom match options and could be a tournament game for us.
I'm downloading Fortnite now, and will look into it.
I might be adding Fortnite to our games list for September!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came to our tournament today! We raised just over $400, not bad at all!
We had a great time playing Mortal Kombat, but now it's off the polls for next month. I'm looking forward to trying out new games, and a new system in June!

Its TOURNAMENT time.

Meeting with The Cove Youth Center went phenomenally!
Pending decisions from their board, Kombat for a Kause may be running kids tournaments starting in June!
There's still a lot to do and decide before anything is certain but it's looking good!

So we've tested out online brackets, which would allow everyone to view the bracket live on their phone at tournaments and it worked perfectly!
We'll be hosting the brackets on challonge.com

In other news our biggest problem to solve right now is recording the tournaments.
I'd like to have video of the tournaments on youtube so players can relive exciting moments, but it looks like the cameras I have aren't up to the task.

So I have an idea on how to let everyone in on seeing the bracket.
Host one online!
I'll have to test it, but I believe I can make an online bracket and create a link, post it to this very site, and everyone should be able to see it on their phones!
I'll test it at some point in the coming weeks.

Unfortunately the video we captured from the fundraiser today isn't usable.
Half of it doesn't have sound, the other half has a high pitched noise over everything.
The video isn't something anyone would want to see either.
Something to work on for next time!

Our first tournament is wrapped up!
We raised $858 dollars total! Incredible!
I'll be adding match videos to YouTube later tonight so everyone can relive their fond memories of me getting destroyed in the final round.

I hung flyers all over crookston, I just recieved 1,000 business cards I ordered, but most importantly I have custom kombatforakause pins!
They turned out great and I'll be selling them at fundraisers for $3 each. Players in the first tournament recieve one for free! Not future tournaments though.

I'm headed to the Eagles later tonight to set dates for the rest of 2019.
Once I have those dates I can make fliers and business cards!

Ok, I added information about the charities to the website, under Kontent. Check it out before voting on a charity!

Over the weekend I plan to add a page (under Kontent) that lists all the charities in the rotation, with information about that charity and probably links to their website if applicable.
Not everyone knows what SAS is after all (I didn't until B.J. Armani introduced me to them. They work hard for people with disabilities)
So that should help people with the selection process.
If you know of a local charity please take to the forums and let me know! Always on the lookout for ways we can help.

I've been looking for a graphic designer to create a logo for the website and a few other things. I got the logo today! I'll update the website later this week with it.

I just got a call from Bo, at the Grand theater!
He had the amazing idea to put ads for the charity in the ad rotation before movies in Crookston! So cool.
Ads should hopefully start appearing on April 27th, advertising the second tournament!

The projectors and screens arrived today and I'm trying them out.
First of all, the screens are WAY too big for my house, which is cool.
The projectors are testing well, even under direct light!
The screen is literally too big for me to use in my house properly, so the first time I'll be seeing these used as they should will be at the tournament which is a bit scary.
I'll test how projectors look and if there's any delay.

Just got back from the Eagles, where we'll definitely be hosting our tournaments!

I spoke with an accountant today who needs to look over specific IRS rules and laws to determine what paperwork I need to file. She'll call me back next week. It's possible there will be a $600 application fee 🤢
